EURid Geographical Restrictions
Only the following categories of companies, organisations and individuals
will be able to register a .EU domain. Please specify below which one of these
statement most applies to you:
a. An undertaking having a registered office, central administration or principal place of business within the European Community
b. An organisation established within the European Community without prejudice to the application of national law
c. A natural person resident within the European Community
EURid Sunrise Application Category
.eu Sunrise Applications will be accepted in two phases. Phase one will be
open to Trademark Holders and Public Bodies. Phase two will be open to holders
of 'other prior rights'. Please read the information below carefully and select
under which category you wish to apply for this domain name:
a) I am applying as the holder of a Registered Trademark
Notes:
The domain name must correspond with a registered national Trademark in an EU member country or a registered community (EU) Trademark.
The Legal Owner details in the application must be those of the owner or licensee of the Trademark
Applicants will be required to provide proof of Trademark ownership within 40 days of the application being accepted (EURid to confirm exactly what documentation is required)
Applications will be assessed on a first-come first-served basis
If the Trademark contains a space (i.e. is composed of more than one word), you can apply for a domain name containing a hyphen instead of the space, as well as the domain name containing no hyphens or spaces (our recommendation is to consider both).
b) I am applying as a Public Body
Notes:
The domain name must correspond with the full name of the public body, the acronym by which the public body is commonly known, or If applicable, the territory which is governed by the public body
The Legal Owner details in the application must be those of the public body
Applicants will be required to provide proof of rights within 40 days of the application being accepted (EURid to confirm exactly what documentation is required)
Applications will be assessed on a first-come first-served basis
c) I am applying as a holder of 'other prior rights' (Phase 2 Sunrise)
Notes:
The domain name must correspond to other 'prior rights' recognised or established by national and/or Community Law; in as far as they are protected under national law in the EU member state where they are held
This could include holders of unregistered Trademarks, company names, trade names, business identifiers, distinctive titles of protected literary and artistic work and family names
Registration on the basis of a prior right shall consist of
the registration of the complete name for which the prior right exists (exact-match),
as written in the documentation which proves that such a right exists
Applicants will be required to submit documentary evidence proving their 'prior
rights' within 40 days of the application being accepted (EURid to confirm
exactly what documentation is required)
Applications will be submitted to the Registry during the Phase two Sunrise Period
Applications will be assessed on a first-come first-served basis
